Caged and deprived of everything that comes naturally to them, kicked, stomped on, bludgeoned, thrown to the ground, gassed, anally electrocuted, SKINNED ALIVE! Does this sound like an entertaining music video to you? This is Duran Duran’s latest video, “Girl Panic,” featuring five supermodels clad in fur, snakeskin, goat hair, feathers and leather.
I’ve always enjoyed Duran Duran’s music, so I was very disappointed to hear about their new video. C’mon guys this isn’t 1982, it’s 2012, surely you’ve heard about the extreme cruelties of fur production? The animals live in terrible conditions and are then killed in horrific ways. A typical fur coat requires the slaughter of 35 – 125 animals. Tragically, more than 50 million animals are killed for fur each year. Over 2 million of them are dogs and cats.

A person that worked on the video and helped source the clothing confirmed that all of the fur garments appearing in the video are made from actual animal fur. Information on the furs is also available in the printed UK version of Harper’s BAZAAR December 2011 issue. We have reached out to Duran Duran, politely asking the band to stop promoting the use of animal fur and inviting them to participate in an IDA anti-fur public service announcement. If they respond, we will post an update immediately.

Please stop wearing fur…at the very least there are many decent faux furs available…senseless
I as well as my sister, we practically grew up with the music of Duran Duran in the years of their enormous glory during the 80′s. They were always our favorite band and we have regarded them as idols. We never thought they would promote such cruelty. As being for years devoted animal lovers, we condemn their attitude and commit not to buy their CDs from now on, until they agree in public to not use fur in the future. Regarding the “models”, no comments. Their sense of vanity and greed lies beyond words…
Please do not allow behaviors to continue that hurt animals in any way. Thank you. You just might even feel better yourself.
“Fashion” is NO excuse for tolerating cruelty to animals who died so you could wear what rightfully belonged to them.

Way too many animals had to die for them to wear the animals fur. That’s just it. The fur belongs to the animals, not people. We wear clothes, “they” wear fur.
Many are still on either side if it’s real or not. And misleading info of whether the fur is real or not is still out there. Another source said it wasn’t real. Someone has to check who’s really telling the truth. I’m completely against fur & think it is wrong in any way. There are still mixed answers about the fur.

No one has ever stated that what Naomi Campbell is wearing is real or faux fur. Everyone is going onassumption. Just because she’s wearing something that looks like animal fur doesn’t mean it’s real. Look @ Jennifer López all of the fur she uses are real & gets them from specific distributors for herself & her line & doesn’t care what anyone thinks. She’s flaunt them proudly in pics & anywhere she went. Everyone knows how Naomi Campbell is & I’ve heard that she does care about animal cruelty. Why doesn’t someone really find out if what was used in the video was real or faux fur before bashing. It has not been proved either way. If it is it’s more shame on Naomi then it is to Duran Duran. She wears what she wears cuz she’s Naomi. Naomi should get heat too if you look @ it. Get the real story then go from there. Don’t assume!!!!

Jennifer Lopez, and all of these new singers are cheap tarts that flaunt their bodies to sell their records because they have no talent! ANYONE WHO WEARS FUR IS A MURDERER! They condone the killing, that makes them equally a guilty. You might want to add the TROLLSON TWINS (Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen), who have been in business since they were eight years old! You would think as a band and as partents that you would have better taste than to parade around on people dead animals. Maybe you should spend some time with these animals before they are horrifically killed and see if you can watch the process afterwards and still dress them up in furs. I think not.

Cleary the hypocritical bitches were in it for the almighty dollar. In 2007 Duran Duran performed at Live Earth, what a joke. Killing 50 million animals a year for the fashion industry so the rich and famous can wear their skins as an accessory in their idiotic stupid filthy video clips, is a disgrace.

It´s true! People especially teenagers copy stars and wear fur! It´s shocking that some bands and a big part of the fashion industry promoting it as a trend! Even more shocking that people are buying it! It seems like they don´t inform themselves before buying clothes or are they all ignorants? Unbelievable! In this day and age Duran Duran can not get with the times. How could they not know fur is not a compassionate fashion, it is CRUELTY! Another band bites the dust for me. I hope they get their act together and open their eyes. You don’t have to wear Fur to be foxy. Incredible! It is just beyond my comprehension. This band will forever have a bad taste in my mouth. So disappointed I am. Disgust! Disdain! Just to name a few sentiments I’m feeling towards this band. I use to love them. I hope they will see how this hurts their image, not to mention the blood on their backs that oozes death and indifference to animal’s suffering! DONE!
